The Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS) Association has released its new SCADA Link (SL) Module, enabling operators to tie SCADA readings directly to geospatial data in PODS databases.

Developed with PRCI and the AGA, the module adds two feature classes—SENSOR_POINT and SENSOR_PANEL—to store sensors and panels with precise coordinates and unique IDs.

Key benefits include:

• Regulatory alignment with API RP 1168 for leak detection

• Improved hydraulic models by linking sensor data to pipeline attributes

• Field efficiency through optimized inspection routes

• Future-proof integration with standardized naming during SCADA upgrades or mergers

The module is available for both liquid and gas pipelines to PODS member companies.
