NACE/PODS External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) Joint Standard Released

The External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) Standard has been developed jointly by the PODS Association and NACE International, an ANSI standards organization. The standard has been approved as NACE SP0507-2007, “External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) Integrity
Data Exchange (IDX) Format” and by the PODS Association Board of Directors. The 34-page standard is now freely available to all NACE and PODS members.

We appreciate the efforts of the joint working group, including the involvement of many industry members and the participation of NACE International.  This data exchange standard is a significant development that will help operators and service providers better communicate and exchange important ECDA data in a more standardized manner.

Please note however, this standard has not yet been incorporated into the PODS Data Model.  The PODS Technical Committee has reviewed the ECDA Standard and created a list of recommendations for users of the PODS Data Model.  Also note that the standard was developed for PODS 4.0 and earlier versions of the PODS Data Model.  As you use the ECDA Standard, please forward additional comments and suggestions to the PODS Association for submission to the PODS Technical Committee.
