The PODS Association Release of PODS 4.0

Supporting the pipeline community by providing the latest release from the PODS Technical Committee

(Tulsa, Oklahoma — September 21, 2006) The PODS Association announces today the release of the final version of PODS 4.0 to the association members. After two years of collaborative efforts by the PODS Technical Committee, the model is released with the following new or updated modules:

  • Cathodic Protection
  • Comments and Reports
  • Facilities and Inspection: Offshore Systems
  • Inline Inspection
  • PODS System
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • NPMS Reporting
    • HCA
  • Units of Measure

Selected enhancements include:

  • Dynamic hierarchy
  • Migrating to event range implementations for:
  • Product type/subtype
  • Line interest (operator/ownership)
  • Operating status
  • Standardized design of Crossing Note tables
  • And much more . . .

The Technical Committee is a diverse group of experts from the pipeline, data modeling, and GIS fields, many of whom work for competing companies. “PODS 4.0 is a significant achievement for the Technical Committee and the association as a whole,” says Sheila Wilson, Executive Director for the PODS Association.

About the PODS Association: The PODS Association is charged with the specific mandate of developing and maintaining pipeline data standards and data interchange standards for the pipeline industry. These standards primarily include pipeline operations, facilities, integrity management and regulatory compliance. The Association manages and maintains the PODS data model.
